Dirty Dozen, Clean Fifteen

Dirty Dozen, Clean Fifteen

Not all produce is created equal.  Some fruits and vegetables are more susceptible to soaking up pesticides than others. The dirty dozen include fruits and vegetables that have a softer outer layer such as strawberries and apples, while the clean fifteen include thicker-skinned produce such as eggplant and cantaloupe. The Environmental Working Group has comprehensive guides to help consumers make informed decisions about the produce they buy. Organically grown produce are grown without the use of synthetic pesticides and can reduce consumers daily intake of toxins by up to 80%.
