Banana peels, pizza crust, and strawberry tops, oh my! Our food waste actually accounts for one-fourth of the landfill. But don’t despair; come learn several different ways that you can turn your food scraps into a rich, organic fertilizer for your lawn.
With a backyard compost bin, the right kind of worms, or even a few hens, you can watch your food scraps gain a new purpose and skip the landfill.
PEC’s three speakers will share tips and techniques for each of the following topics:
- Backyard Composting: Carrie Dyckman, Compost Enthusiast and Consultant
- Vermicomposting: Pramod Raju, Environmental Entrepreneur & Activist
- Backyard Hens: Joseph Heckman, Ph.D. Professor of Soil Science, Rutgers University
