OTA’s National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) Fall 2021 Meeting Report is now available! On October 19, NOSB kicked off its three-day biannual public meeting via live webinar. NOSB considered 13 proposals, three discussion documents, and over 30 sunset materials. Secretary Karen Ross of the California Department of Food and Agriculture provided welcoming remarks, highlighting the unique importance of organic to California and the priorities of its State Organic Program to spur climate smart growth. These themes permeated throughout the welcoming remarks of two new USDA appointments, Jenny Lester Moffitt and Marni Karlin, who both highlighted organic as critical to USDA’s effort to create a resilient and equitable food system.  Their full report includes detailed notes on each agenda item up for deliberation, a recap of the discussions, and a complete list of all votes and next steps.
