The New Jersey Department of Agriculture has asked members of the ag community to distribute the attached communications throughout the ag community.

The letter from NJDCA concerns farm-labor housing, especially any agricultural buildings that previously served other purposes but have been converted to farm-labor housing. It also emphasizes a phased-in approach to helping farms, if they need it, to come into compliance with fire code requirements over time. This was a key issue that NJDA stressed in the earlier discussions with NJDCA, to minimize impacts to farming operations.
