An article published in Food Business News focuses on sales trends of organics in the current marketplace. A 2016 survey published by the Organic Trade Association concluded that more than half, 52% of organic shoppers are parents between the ages of 18-34. Generation X parents represent 35% of shoppers while baby-boomer parents come in at 14%. Millennials are embracing the organic movement since they have grown up with these products and are more likely to view the organic label as sincere, credible, reliable, and relevant. Shoppers of organics also have qualities that retailers look for such as more shopping trips in a week and a larger basket size. We can safely say that the organic movement will be growing with each new generation.
