According to farmtoconsumer.org, raw milk sales are illegal in only eight states. In PA, retail sales are legal, and in NY, farm sales are legal. NJ’s prohibition of raw milk sales appears antiquated and costly to farms and natural health advocates. NJ citizens who wish to purchase raw milk products drive over the border to shop, often purchasing other farm products at the same time. Fortunately, at this time there are bills in both the NJ General Assembly (A696) and Senate (S1414) to make sales from certified farms legal. One good resource to become more acquainted with raw milk is The Raw Milk Answer Book, by David Gumpert.
