5/24, NOFA NJ Taco Tuesday (7-10 PM) (Yard Tacos in High Bridge): Kick off the season with NOFA NJ for a taco Tuesday to remember! FREE to NOFAMEMBERS, Chefs and Farmers. (Not a member? You can become a member online or at the door) This is a BYOB event (packaged goods can be purchased next door at a discounted price). Bring your good vibes and your dancing shoes as we celebrate our community’s passion for food, farming and friendship and we unveil our monthly food event series!

5/25, NOFA NJ Monthly Organic Open House (Virtual) (8:30 AM): NOFA-NJ’s Monthly Organic Open Houses are free events designed to offer an open, informal space for the community to gather, share knowledge and resources, solicit advice and suggestions from fellow farmers, and discuss relevant news and community updates. The open houses also serve to support NOFA NJJourneyPerson Program throughout the season as an opportunity for JourneyPersons and their Farmer-Mentors to check in and share their experiences with the NOFA NJ community. Register Here

6/11, Poultry Processing Class (10AM – 12:30PM): Join NOFA NJ and Matt from Hard Cider Homestead in a comprehensive class on poultry processing. Each participant has the option of experiencing the steps necessary to take a living mature meat chicken, into a processing ready to eat product, and each participant can return home with their own processed meat bird, having gained an intimate knowledge of what is required in order to process your own meat birds. Register Here

5/19: Southern NJ Nutrition Security Learning Collaborative is hosting a webinar and panel discussion focused on models for healthy food choices and nutrition education at food pantries. Participating pantries are eligible for an organizational stipend of $100. View the Flyer Here

5/19: The Watershed Institute is hosting a Rain Barrel Workshop from 5:30 – 7:30 PM in Pennington, NJ. In addition to building a rain barrel, attendees will be given instructions for installation, care, and appropriate uses for their rain barrel. $50 registration fee includes all construction materials. The fee is per barrel, so groups can build one barrel for $50. Register Here

5/20-22: Restoration Agriculture is hosting a 3-day Workshop in Bethel, NY. Join NOFA NJ favorite Johann Rinkens and best-selling author Mark Shepherd to immerse in the principles and practice of growing food – guided and supported by the vast intelligence of nature – where human thriving also supports and nourishes Earth and our fellow beings. In addition to classroom learning, you will also have the opportunity to witness a Restoration Agriculture system being implemented, right on the land where the workshop is taking place. This includes a tour and discussion (of the why and how) of a swale/berm system that was put in place last Fall, and (weather permitting) a live demo of planting the tree and shrub layers of a polyculture food forest. View the Flyer for more information

6/22: 10th Annual Sustainable Living Empowerment Conference This virtual conference will spotlight community commercial development projects proposed by Newark-based growers and will demonstrate how urban agriculture creates a pathway to a green economy and allows for the development of environment and social benefits.View the Event Flyer

Spring Creek Farm seeking a Livestock Manager The ideal candidate is organized, experienced in all aspects of animal husbandry, and motivated to help us build and fine-tune our animal husbandry systems. Duties include feeding and watering all animals, collecting and packing eggs, cleaning coops, raising (and processing) meat birds, fence upkeep and daily rotation of cattle herds through pasture, shearing sheep, as well as generating sales through our farm market operations and wholesale outlets surplus produce.
