About Carversville Farm Foundation: Carversville Farm Foundation (CFF) is a non-profit farm that combines ecological regeneration and organic agricultural production to serve our environment as well as our community. We currently distribute our farm products to soup kitchens and food pantries in the greater Philadelphia area to help improve access to wholesome, locally grown foods. CFF also sells some of its products.
Who We Want: Carversville Farm Foundation is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Applicants should possess the ability and desire to work hard in both an independent and diverse team setting, often in adverse weather conditions. Must be able to lift up to 40lbs. Must have a valid driver’s license. Three years of management experience is required for this job. We are certified organic and do not use conventional pesticides. The Head Groundskeeper is responsible for the maintenance of all farm properties, including satellite farms and houses. Duties include mowing, string trimming, mulching, planting, weeding, irrigation, pruning, fence-line maintenance, and the operation and routine maintenance of all equipment related to the job. Other duties include tree pruning and felling, chipping, and operation of heavy equipment. In the winter, you will be the primary plow operator, and be expected to work hours outside of the normal schedule to ensure that access is maintained at all times to the farm and farm properties. This will also include shoveling and salting walkways for the safety of Farm employees and tenants. At times you may be asked to participate in farm related activities including, but not limited to: planting and harvesting or other “all hands on deck” situations that often arise on a farm. You will be expected to work in all weather conditions and will be provided the training and equipment necessary to do so safely. Aesthetics and the appearance of cleanliness and order are paramount to instilling confidence in the quality and safety of our produce to visitors and customers of the farm. As such, it is expected that farm properties will be kept in good order, with a focus on beauty and natural appearance, utilizing interim/seasonal plantings as placeholders for more permanent/perennial/edible plantings that will take over in the coming years. This is pending a professional design, which you will have the opportunity to implement in phases with the help of consultants and other farm staff.
