Reed’s Organic Farm is a nonprofit regenerative farm and animal sanctuary located in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. Our location is uniquely suited for our mission in our community, which is to become essentially a community hub for organic healthy food and an educational resource. Our vision involves working with underserved community members through programming and workforce development as well as helping to build a healthier food system with focus on nearby Atlantic City. We are eager to begin the next phase of operations with a new commercial kitchen and market being built in our pole barn.
This is the ideal position for a highly creative and organized person who enjoys the challenge of a new venture in collaboration with a team. i.e. the farm director and market manager. We are looking for an individual who draws their inspiration from working with farm-fresh, organic vegetables, fruits and eggs.
This position includes ongoing product development to stock our market that will be a “grab and go” model. We will also have a coffee, herb tea and pastry section in the market. We plan to host monthly fundraising dinners for about 20 guests featuring our farm’s bounty. The kitchen also aims to be a teaching kitchen.
The Chef will be responsible for sustaining a functioning commercial kitchen, anywhere from ordering supplies to pricing food products, to collaborating with market management and farm operations as a whole unit to maintain the heartbeat and regulate output and pace for the farm’s holistic vision. This position will be a full-time role here on the farm and will adapt with seasons as well as demand. This kitchen will be the heart of our farm. We are looking for the person that steps into the role of chef to embrace this vision.
–At least 5 years of commercial kitchen experience in a management or leadership role
–Experience in kitchen start-up
-Knowledge of kitchen operations
-Can take charge but also works well collaborating with the farm staff
-Ambitious attitude with skill in cooking, baking, fermenting, canning and experimenting
– Capable of tweaking traditional concepts into seasonal and healthy well thought out recipes
-Experience in clean vegan and vegetarian cooking
-Familiarity with fresh organic ingredients
-Enthusiastic about working on a farm and utilizing fresh interchangeable produce
-Enthusiastic about feeding community
working with people with different abilities and or willing to teach in
open classroom settings for certain workshops or lesson plans with
-Workforce development skills
