Mikey Azzara is the founder/owner of Zone 7, a farm-fresh distribution company founded in 2008 and based in Ringoes, NJ with the mission of strengthening our local and regional food system by delivering local food to restaurants, retailers, and schools 52 weeks of the year. Mikey served as the outreach director for the Northeast Organic Farming Association of New Jersey from 2003 to 2008, where he coordinated state-wide educational programs for organic farmers, gardeners, consumers, and youth. Building on this work he established Zone 7 in the spring of 2008 to fill what he saw was a missing link in the local food system. Mikey also helped to found the Lawrenceville Farmers’ Market and the New Jersey Farm to School Network, established several school garden programs (most notably in Lawrence Public Township Schools), and served as the co-leader of Slow Food Central Jersey. A New Jersey native and graduate of Middlebury College, Mikey has farmed in Italy, Vermont, and New Jersey.
