Jim Simon, Isles

Deputy Director, Community Planning and Development

Mr. Simon oversees technical and organizational support for 70 school and community gardens in the Trenton area and coordinates gardening, environmental, and food-based education for children and adults. In his nine years at Isles, he has conducted numerous workshops on gardening basics, organic growing, composting, beekeeping, rain barrel building, and cooking using seasonal produce. He is also responsible for the development of over thirty new gardens, including a half-acre production, training, and educational garden. Mr. Simon has been involved in environmental and youth education for over twenty-five years and is a Rutgers Cooperative Extension Master Gardener, a member of the New Jersey Beekeepers Association and is on the steering committee of the Trenton Cycling Revolution, a bicycling advocacy group.
