Alexis Trujillo-Graham came to agriculture by chance while working for a professional landscape design company. As a Working Crew Foreman, she learned the trade of design, construction and maintenance. Her portfolio ranges from private estates to high-end commercial garden projects for stores such as, Anthropologie, West Elm, Pottery Barn and Williams Sonoma. In 2014, having earned an MA in Public Policy she chose to combine her professional skill set with her craft. As Farm & Market Coordinator with Ironbound Community Corporation (ICC) (Newark, NJ), Alexis is driven by empowering communities of color to take ownership of their local food system by GROWING FOOD. Alexis feels fortunate to work in collaboration with local and national stakeholders. The reward is being able to share her passion and joy for gardens with the community, having the support of residents and youth, building small-scale farms with “swagger”.
