The NRCS is a great resource for guidance on soils. They have information on all kinds of soils types and classifications as well as information on soil health and research topics. Take some time to explore the Web Soil Survey, an interactive tool to learn about the different soil types we have here in NJ, and in your own backyard. The Web Soil Survey is used by builders, engineers, farmers, and conservationists for construction projects and environmental health. After all, soil is a resource that needs to be preserved and protected from erosion and contamination. It provides essential services to the environment and our communities by acting as a filter and providing an ecosystem in which plants can grow.  Check out the NRCS web page including the Web Soil Survey here: NRCS Web Soil Survey
