This session will explore funding opportunities for small and urban farms and explain how producers have the ability to influence Farm Bill spending by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in New Jersey. Learn how the NJ NRCS is striving to work more with urban farms, small farms, organic farms, and beginning farmers by providing technical and financial assistance to install conservation practices that help increase production and are beneficial to the environment. The beginning of the presentation will highlight existing and new practices and services that are available for the small and/or urban farms as well as farms looking to transition to organic agriculture. The end of the presentation will focus on how individual producers have the ability to influence funding and program decisions in the state. Participants will learn of various opportunities to become involved with NRCS and how to make their voice count.
