Once this job is posted it normally has just a 14-day window to apply. The Regional Preservation Acquisition Coordinator will manage farmland preservation acquisition projects for the New Jersey State Agriculture Development Committee (SADC) which administers New Jersey’s Farmland Preservation Program. The position will require approximately 1-2 two days per week in the SADC's main office in Trenton and the remainder in the specified territory, will require attendance at evening agriculture board meetings and occasional weekend hours. Currently the specified territory is in Central and Southern New Jersey. Candidate must have strong communication and analytical skills, be able to work remotely and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Conducting farm inspections, meeting with landowners, coordinating with funding partners and providing conservation and planning assistance constitutes a major portion of field work hours. REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by (12) semester hour credits in one or any combination of the following: agricultural science, natural resource management, environmental science, environmental planning, or land use planning. EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of experience reviewing, developing, implementing, and maintaining agricultural, environmental, or land use management programs in the public or private sector. NOTE: Applicants who have successfully completed the required courses or the required number of semester hour credits as specified above may substitute additional experience as indicated on a year-for-year basis for the remaining education with thirty (30) semester hour credits being equal to one (1) year of experience. NOTE: A Master's degree in Agricultural Science, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Land Use Planning, or other related field may be substituted for the one (1) year of experience.
