Through member services, outreach, education, and advocacy, NOFA-NJ is working to see that we become an Organic Garden State. Education has always been the backbone of NOFA-NJ’s work. We offer educational events that create a space for farmers and gardeners to learn from one another and world recognized experts, build their skill sets, and get new ideas. Now, more than ever, we see the importance of a resilient local food system and the need for a connected, supportive community.
During this crisis, our staff is on the job working remotely because the COVID-19 crisis is creating a sharp spike in demand for our services. At the same time, we are also dealing with a loss of revenue caused by the COVID-19 crisis. We are moving our educational programming online so that we can continue to provide services to farmers, gardeners, and eaters. There is an unprecedented level of demand for Gardening Courses, Soil Health, Year-Round Growing Knowledge, Safe Food Handling, Basic Consumer Education About: 1) Our Food System, 2) Creative Ways to Cook, and 3) Preserve Fresh Produce and Farm Shares. We’ll be offering a series of roundtables and field days via webinar, marketing assistance by phone and email, and new access to online resources for farming, gardening and organic consumers.
