Gloucester County Farm Partnership Opportunity
I am hoping to find a partner for a joint venture farm opportunity. It has always been a dream/goal to own and operate my own farm, however, I am currently occupied with a successful full-time career and family commitments, and cannot manage the time requirements of full-time farming. I would like to find some full-time farmers who could utilize my land and equipment through a partnership. I am open to any and all methods and ideas. I have had an interest in Organic Farming (A successful graduate of the NOFA NJ Course!) and permaculture/sustainable agriculture, No-Till, etc, however, I am very open-minded and would welcome any opportunity. I believe my current setup is fairly comprehensive and would be attractive to some experienced or motivated individuals looking for a start in farming. I have a 30-acre farm in Gloucester County, which is fully cleared and currently being conventionally vegetable farmed. They are good stewards and have had a vegetable/wheat cover crop rotation for 4 years. There is an 8" irrigation well, I do not know peak GPM, however, an engine-driven pump can easily power a large irrigation/water reel anywhere on the farm. There is a 30x85 covered storage building for machinery and equipment parking out of the weather, and a complete contingent of farming equipment geared toward vegetable production. This includes; ? 2 x Ford 3600 Diesel Tractors ? 1 x Ford 3910 Diesel Tractor (Needs Clutch, current winter project) ? 1 x Ford 4600 Diesel Tractor ? 3 x IH 274 Diesel Cultivating Tractors (All low hours, one not running, sat for 10 years but running when parked) ?1 x Massey Ferguson 1105 100HP Tractor ? Numerous implements for all tractors, which I can detail further if necessary. A few mentioned below; ? Meeker bed maker for vegetable bed prep ? Model 900 Mechanical Transplanter ? Model 22 Mechanical Transplanter ? 2 Row John Deere Model 71 Seeder on Toolbar ? 2 Row Planet JR Seeder on Toolbar ? Plastic Layer ? 50 Gallon Sprayer (used for fish emulsion fertilizer spraying) ? 2 Bottom MF Flip Plow ? 3 pt Land Pride Disc ? 3 pt 6\' Unverferth Perfecta Finish Cultivator ? 5\' Brush Hog ? Box Blade ? Kifco T200 Water Winch Irrigation Reel ? 2x Vicon Fertilizer/Seed spreaders ? And More! ? Several cultivation tools available for the IH 274 tractors as well as a basket weeder and finger weeder (needs work). ? I have large tillage implements for the 1105 tractor as well. ? Case IH 3800 12\' Disc ? 12\' KMC Finish Cultivator/Perfecta ? IH 165 4 Bottom On-Land Rollover Plow ? 7 Shank Case IH Chisel Plow ? I also have a small 20x40 cold frame greenhouse currently on another property where my brother and I trialed a small commercial hydroponic system. This could be moved to the farm for future use. ? The hydroponic system has not been used in several years but is also available and worked great! Additionally, I am willing and interested in helping on the labor side as much as possible, as well as investment to help grow and make a successful farm, so I would be a very involved partner (if desired). However would be willing to be as involved or not as a partner felt necessary. I think this would be a great opportunity for some newer farmers who want to have their own farm, but know the difficulty and major expense of acquiring the land and equipment necessary to start a farm in NJ. I can see a very successful partnership with the right team. Please feel free to contact me if you or someone you know is looking to start a farm.
