Ironbound Farm located in Hunterdon County is a 108 Acre preserved farm in the Highlands region of New Jersey. Our farm is a diversified operation which practices Regenerative Agriculture. The property consists of 45 acres of forest and wetlands and 50 Acres of Silvopastured orchards integrated with annual crops, livestock, infusion fruits, herbs and flowers. Additionally, we have about half an acre of high tunnels and low tunnels for year-round production of salad greens and roots. Our farm is also the home of Ironbound Hard Cider and a tasting room where we are producing ciders year-round, have lunch and dinner service seasonally, private and public events and educational activities. For the 2021 Farming season we are looking for a group of hardworking and eager to learn individuals to join our team. The individuals we hope to hire are team players, good communicators, critical thinkers and problem solvers. Willing to work rain or shine and in some cases from sunup to sundown. Prerequisites: 1. +/- 1-year Farming experience 2. 1+ year experience in food service industries including grocery 3. Basic understanding of invoicing, inventory & record keeping 4. Basic understanding of operating equipment We are looking for an individual who will be managing and operating our wash and pack facility. This facility is a 50x70 climate-controlled barn that contains various produce, egg, and meat processing equipment as well as 2 20x20 walk-in refrigeration units as well as a 20x20 walk-in blast freezer. Additionally, this person will be overlooking the spaces used in our other barns, containers and greenhouses where crops are being cured and stored. This role also includes participation in our wholesale ordering and communication system with clients as well as the farms crew leaders for harvesting & availability listings. This role involves the following: 1. 25-40 hours a week year-round 2. Washing crops 3. Sorting crops 4. Storing crops 5. Packing orders in various containers both reusable and single use 6. Crop quality control 7. Keeping inventory and records 8. Packing and order fulfillment 9. Food safety and handling procedures 10. Palletization of product 11. Egg washing, sorting, packing, storage 12. Operation of various wash equipment: greens bubbler, wash conveyor, barrel washer, salad spinners, egg washer, power washer. 13. Basic understanding of plumbing i.e. hose connections and drains. 14. Basic understanding of taking temperatures and humidity readings and interpreting 15. Invoice creation and label making 16. Usage of various scales 17. Operation of forklift, pallet jack, hand truck 18. Operation of and loading and unloading box truck 19. Ability to run and monitor a crew for instruction and quality control 20. Ability to work well with and communicate with others 21. Participation in all other farm activities as needed and as time allows.
