Pennypack Farm & Education Center, a 13 acre vegetable CSA farm in Horsham PA, is seeking applications for our 2021 summer growing season. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build their sustainable agriculture resume while working in a professional environment on a successful CSA farm! The Seasonal Farmer is a full time temporary position starting in mid-April and ending in mid-October. The person in this position will work 40-50 hours a week with weekend duties required. Some weeks the seasonal farmer will work Monday through Friday while other weeks weekend work will replace some of the weekday hours. One season of experience farming is preferred but not required of applicants. Duties will include but not limited too; planting, weeding, watering, setting up irrigation, repairing items, harvesting, working with volunteers, washing produce, and driving tractors. Previous tractor experience is a plus, but not required if the applicant is willing to learn and operate tractors on a regular basis. Please mention in application if you have prior tractor experience. Ability to lift 50 pounds, walk, stand, kneel, drive, bend for long periods of time in all weather, ability to engage in other strenuous tasks as necessary including but not limited to tractor and implement operation. We look for candidates to join our farm crew who can maintain a positive and professional attitude throughout challenges of farming. A valid Driver’s License and a criminal background and child abuse clearance are required. Compensation is $10-$12 per hour, depending on experience. Benefits include a weekly share of seasonal farm vegetables. The farm is located in Horsham, Pa, about 45 minutes by car from Philadelphia. Unfortunately there is no easy public transit and having your own transportation is strongly recommended.
