Reuwai Hanewald (farmer) and Kris Holmstrom (Rutgers Vegetable IPM Project Coordinator) will share information on IPM decision making and management practices during a field walk. Reuwai will discuss how she makes pest management decisions based on the information provided by the Rutgers IPM program and Kris will highlight practices to manage common vegetable pests in organic systems. IPM can be used in any type of production and is based on pest monitoring, mapping, and decision making based on pest population thresholds. Terhune Orchards currently has 20 acres in organic production and has been certified organic since 2007.
Support for this event is provided by the USDA Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP); TOPP Mentees and Mentors should email nofainfo@nofanj.org for free registration.
