NOFA NJ 2024 Year-In-Review

Dig In to See What NOFA NJ Accomplished in 2024

From Mini-Grants to Mentorship, Farm Tours and On-Farm Trials, we’ve been busy throughout the Garden State.

2024 was an exciting year for NOFA NJ. With 10+ grant projects to implement, dozens of events to plan and host, and lots of engagement with our community, the organization has now grown to include 8 Staff and almost 600 Members!

The most exciting task this past year was the awarding of a $1M Grant-in-Aid provided to NOFA NJ from the State of New Jersey. This support was a direct result of our advocacy for the NJDA to receive increased funding to support Organic farming in NJ. All of us at NOFA NJ worked hard to implement the funding in just 6 months! We purchased a commercial kitchen, provided $250k in mini-grants to farmers, produced a documentary on NJ grains, and so much more (see Summary Report below). Details on all of our projects can be found further down this page.

As always, we made sure to have fun with food, bringing the community together to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our local farmers, food businesses, land stewards and more. We held our 34th Annual Winter Conference in January, a sold-out event that continues to grow. Our Annual Meeting was hosted at Harmony Hollow Farm in Lambertville, with around 100 NOFA NJ supporters keeping cozy and enjoying local food inside a picture-perfect barn. We also held two FesTomato! events, one in Egg Harbor City and another in Pennington.

All of the above is just a fraction of our impact in the last twelve months. Keep reading, become a Member, and stay with us as we work to transform local food systems and support OG in NJ!
