WC18: Regenerating Our Communities, Restoring Our Land
Welcome to NOFA-NJ’s 28th Annual Winter Conference home page. We hope that you will join us for what will be an important, informative and memorable event. The conference will be from Saturday, January 27 through Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the Rutgers Douglass Student Center.
Our theme for 2018 is “Regenerating Our Communities, Restoring Our Land”. There exists a large and rapidly growing body of research demonstrating the connections between soil health and the health of the overall environment and its inhabitants. It is often said that healthy soil makes healthy plants makes healthy people makes healthy society. So many of the issues we confront today, from pollinators to chronic illness, tie back to the stewardship of agricultural lands. The knowledge is there to breathe new life into vast expanses of our agricultural system and to reap the rewards of thoughtful, regenerative, organic practices. Our Winter Conferences make this knowledge available to everyone in an open, inspiring and collaborative way.
We believe that the most important thing that any of us can do to support the organic movement is to show up for each other. Developing the skills required to be successful as an organic grower can be accelerated greatly when people come together in a sharing community that holds mutual support as a core value. Our movement is a barn raising on an epic scale. Simply by showing up, beginners and experts alike, you are playing an important role in building a movement on which much depends. We look forward to seeing you at WC18!
